Early in the morning i took a train to my next destination in Taiwan – Hualien. This city is the most common base to explore one of the main sights in the country – Taroko National park.
Trains in Taiwan tend to be very good with some speed lines. The only trouble is that for some routes including Taipei – Hualien buying the ticket in advance online is very hard. You can do it only 2 weeks in advance and they are sold very quickly. I had a reminder to buy them and though i came to buy few hours after the sale has started, all speed train tickets were sold out. So i had to take another train, which was still direct, but instead of 1,5 hours ride it takes 3 hours.
I choose WOW Hostel as my base for these days. The name Hostel in this case means nothing, but name as it’s more of a poshtel with cool design and private rooms and private bathroom. Located close to the railway station, it was very convenient choice.
I was warmly greeted there and @jonnhdu, who works there, was so kind to guide me around the city and showed me one beautiful part of the Taroko. We also have checked some cool Japanese minimal style restaurant, coffee shop and couple more places around the city to have a glimpse what’s going on there.
That’s really so awesome and nice to be welcomed by someone local, such a nice touch!
