Inle lake for me was a place with not much expectations. I literally got no idea what to do here. The only thing i knew is that this area is the most touristy in Myanmar and i need to be careful of tourist traps.
In the morning i done some basic research like “what to do in…” and found that boat rides are the best (obligatory) idea and actually there’s lots of interesting stuff to do.
I head to the street and in 10 minutes found private boat for a day to explore the lake. The trick is that you have to clearify that your want no shopping (of course, on case if you really don’t want). It will cost more, but in another way boat will simply brought you from one shop to another and you can do nothing with it, because you are literally in the boat without any other options.
So i ended up paying little more for seeing place, bit not shops and factories. To be true, 23$ for a full day on private boat is really good deal.
We started immediately and went to explore the area.
And there’s really so much of cool stuff:
lake itself, surrounded by beautiful hills from 2 sides
water gardens which occupies 40% of lake and kind of unique thing
water villages, which are located literally on lake and feels like Venice
groups of private pagodas
another holy temple and pagoda.
And of course, sunset is absolutely peak of the day! And i need to say, that that was one of my top3 sunsets ever.
We finished all the places little earlier, so we had around hour till first sinset lights. Our boat man brought us to the middle of the lake, switched off the engine and went sleeping.
And here we are, in the middle of really big lake in silence waiting for the sunset. And when it starts, it was really one of the most scenic i ever seen!
Without no means, that was one more perfect travel day, which started without particular plan and ended with lifetime experience!
